Effective Date: September 27, 2024

New York now provides employment protections for employees who have been away from work on state active duty with the National Guard pursuant to a call of the governor of New York or any other state. This law took effect immediately upon signing on September 27, 2024, and applies to employers of all sizes.

If your handbook policy related to protected military and National Guard leave is not already expansive enough to cover this type of use, update it as needed.
