The table below shows minimum wage information state by state. Please note that the table reflects state requirements only; local requirements may vary.

Federal: $7.25 hr
For all employers grossing more than $500,000. Training wage of $4.25 per hour allowed for workers under 20 years old for the first 90 calendar days of employment.

The state minimum wage applies to employers with 4 or more employees. Employers with fewer that 4 employees may pay the federal minimum wage rate.

California

Colorado

$14.42 (All employers)

Georgia

Federal minimum wage applies.

 

Georgia’s state minimum wage rate is $5.15. As the state’s minimum wage is lower than federal minimum wage, the federal rate applies.

Hawaii

Idaho

Federal minimum wage applies.

 

State minimum wage will automatically follow federal minimum wage.

Illinois

Massachusetts Blue Laws require some employers to pay premium pay for Sundays and certain holidays.

Michigan

In July 2024, the Michigan Supreme Court determined that it was unconstitutional for the legislature to adopt and amend a voter-initiated petition in the same legislative session. As a result, the original minimum wage and sick leave laws, proposed and approved by the voters of Michigan back in 2018, will take effect on February 21, 2025.

Minnesota

$10.85 (Employers that gross $500,000 or more annually)

New Jersey

Starting in 2025, annual adjustments for employers with 6 or more employees are tied to the consumer price index.

New Mexico

$16.00 (Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties)

 

  • Some cities and industries have higher minimum wages than the state rates. See the New York Minimum Wage and Overtime page for more information.

  • For all regions, once the local wage reaches $15 the rate increase is tied to the consumer price index.

Oregon

$15.95 (Employers inside Portland's Urban Growth Boundary)

  • As of July 2023, increases to the "standard rate" of mid-sized cities will be tied to the consumer price index. Rates for employers inside Portland's Urban Growth Boundary will always be $1.25 over the standard rate and rates for employers in nonurban counties will always be $1 less.

  • Nonurban counties include Baker, Coos, Crook, Curry, Douglas, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, and Wheeler.
