Los Angeles County's "Ban the Box" Law Takes Effect

Effective Date: September 3, 2024

Los Angeles County’s “ban the box” law, which applies to employers with five or more employees working in unincorporated LA County, takes effect September 3, 2024. The County recently rolled out a website that includes FAQs, the required workplace posting, a fact sheet, and more. You can find detailed information on the ordinance on our Los Angeles (County), California, Applicant and Employee Screening laws page.

The Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers was adopted by the LA County Board of Supervisors on February 27, 2024.
